Plans to Scrap SATs
If you're planning to take exams in May it's possible that you could be the last. Teachers are claiming they’ll refuse to teach the standard attainment tests in 2010. This is due to the general feeling that schools are gearing children into passing tests and not into getting an education.
Around 600,000 children around England are preparing to sit the tests this May, however teachers unions are yet to stand unanimously. Some people view the SATs as good ways of reviewing the progress made by pupils by the final year of primary education. However , others argue that the GCSE grade system should be used, even from the early stage of reception. We'll be excited to hear your responses. You can contact us at WHGS school reports, we hope to update you as the story progresses.
